Counselor's Corner

The elementary school years set the tone for developing the knowledge, attitudes and skills necessary for children to become healthy, competent, and confident learners. Early identification and intervention of children’s academic and social/emotional needs help to remove barriers to learning and increase academic achievement.

As an elementary school counselors, we work with students by providing individual and small group counseling, classroom SEL lessons, and consultation/referral, in an effort to help remove these barriers and encourage students to reach their full potential. Some specific areas that may be addressed in counseling include academic motivation, behavioral difficulties, social skills, family changes, coping with feelings, and self-esteem. We also work very closely with parents, teachers, school staff and the community in an effort to help students achieve academic, social, and personal success and to promote a positive school climate for all.

Please feel free to contact us by phone or email with any questions or concerns!

bucket filler

Have you Filled a Bucket Today?

Bucket-Fillers is a school-wide program that promotes positive behavior and kindness in our students.  It is based on the book, Have You Filled a Bucket Today? by Caroline McCloud. The simple understanding that everyone has an imaginary bucket (your heart) that can be filled with good feelings about yourself is an easy-to-understand concept for elementary children. You need someone else to fill your bucket and they need you to fill theirs. Also, when you fill someone's bucket, you are filling your own bucket too! When students are caught "filling someone's bucket" or doing something kind for others, they earn a spot on our Monthly, Bucket-Filler Recognition Board. This school-wide initiative helps to foster a positive school culture and climate for all!
