• College and Career Center

The Elmwood Park Memorial High School Guidance Department  is available throughout the year to help students and parents with academic concerns, testing and college and career planning.

The Guidance Suite is available for students to visit during their lunch, study hall or after school. All are welcome to gather information on various colleges/universities. There are additional resources located in Guidance, including tips for writing a college essay, financial aid & scholarship information, and SAT/ACT registration material & practice tests. The Guidance Department assists students with evaluating all of their options in attending  a 4-year college, 2-year college, or trade school.

For those students who are interested in the military, there is information available about the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB).

    College Experience/ Dual Enrollment

The College Experience Program was created by the Elmwood Park Guidance Department, in collaboration with Bergen Community College and Fairleigh Dickinson University.  This program will help select students begin their transition to college.  Students willing to participate in the program must:

    • Be a senior in high school,
    • Have an overall grade point average of 3.0 or better,
    • Have permission from the High School Guidance Supervisor
    • Have the permission of the parents or legal guardians.
If a student wishes to take a language arts class or a math class, a score of 540 or better on the Critical reading section or 530 or better on the Math section of the SAT, is needed to avoid taking a basic skills course.  These courses, like the Middle College Program, are transferable to four-year colleges.
