Mr. Tomko began his tenure in the Elmwood Park School district as Memorial Middle School principal in 2002, after serving as curriculum supervisor, assistant principal and director of athletics in previous districts. In 2003, Mr. Tomko assumed the position of principal of Memorial High School, and served as principal of both the middle and high schools from 2005 - 2009. During the 2009-2010 school year, he served the district as Interim Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction and Memorial High School Principal, and was appointed Superintendent of Schools beginning July 1, 2010.
Mr. Tomko obtained his principal license and school administrator certificate after earning his Masters Degree in Educational Administration from Seton Hall University. He has recently advanced to candidacy as Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in the Educational Leadership, Management and Policy Program at SHU.
